Dogs are family, and when it comes to their health and diet, we want to feed them the absolute best. But with all the options and claims, how on Earth are you supposed to choose? What do all those words and ingredients mean? What’s best for my dog? How can I find something they’ll enjoy, and that won’t blow my budget?

It’s so easy to be dazzled by expensive prices, shiny packaging and celebrity endorsement—and by what we think is right. But what do our dogs really need?

What’s actually in dog food?

Many dog foods are filled with cheaper ingredients like corn, wheat, barley, and highly processed ingredients that are flavoured to look and smell like meat. These inexpensive fillers keep company costs down, but they’re not always what’s best for your pet. Grains are not part of a canine’s natural diet, and while they can tolerate small quantities, over time grains have been proven to be the main cause of allergies for dogs.

Unfortunately, most of the dog food we buy is made primarily of grains and cereals: this can cause long-term problems for your pet. Obesity, arthritis, itchy skin, bad breath and flatulence can all be a sign your dog is consuming too many grain carbohydrates.

Should I consider grain-free dog food?

Grain-free pet food is now available all over Australia, and there are numerous benefits to feeding your pet a grain-free diet. It will:

  • Keep your dog fuller for longer (from animal protein).
  • Save you money—because they won’t need to eat as much.
  • Help reduce canine food allergies.
  • Promote healthier skin and a shinier coat.
  • Provide better-smelling breath.
  • Decrease flatulence.
  • Help weight management.
  • Maintain healthy joints and teeth.

Introducing Applaws

Applaws is an Australian-made dry dog food brand created by two pet owners who were frustrated by the lack of good quality options on the market for their own pets. Since then, it’s grown into a trusted global supplier of natural, premium cat and dog food—and it’s priced to suit your budget.

Just like humans, dogs need a good quality, balanced and nutritious diet. They need meat protein, and a range of fruits and veggies to provide natural vitamins and minerals.  Applaws dry fog food replicates a natural canine diet for optimal health.

According to independent review site, Pet Food Reviews, Applaws is:

“Leaps and bounds better than most other foods you’ll find in the supermarkets.”

Pet Food Reviews wrote Applaws is highly recommended, with a 4 out of 5 star rating (that was borderline 5).

The Health Reasons

Applaws It’s All Good dry dog food contains 50% Australian meat, and 50% fruits and veggies. Every single ingredient has been carefully chosen to provide a specific health benefit for your dog. It’s grain-free, gluten-free and has added extras like flax seed and fish oil, providing beneficial Omega 3 and 6 to promote a healthy, shiny coat. Dogs have small intestinal tracts that process meat much easier than other sources: it’s how their bodies were designed to absorb protein and nutrients.  And feeding your pet a premium product like Applaws can help prevent future expensive dietary issues and trips to the vet.

The pet food aisle is an overwhelming and confusing place—but it doesn’t have to be. You can find Applaws dog (and cat, for that matter) food in the pet aisle in Coles, Woolworths and in specialist stores like My Pet Warehouse and PETstock.

How do I switch?

When making any changes to your dog’s diet, it’s essential to transition at a staggered pace, slowly integrating more and more of Applaws over the course of 7-10 days.

For a healthier and happier dog, choose Applaws—because they know the difference.
