Can i choose which breeds/sizes of dogs i would like to mind?

Yes! You can choose exactly what breeds and size of dog you prefer to mind. We recommend that you be flexilble with what preferences you make as these will limit the amount of contact you receive. You can always arrange a visit with the owner so you can see if the dog is suitable before the stay and decide then.

What if im unsure if the dog is suitable for me to look after?

Simply arrange with the owner a suitable time for you to meet the dog before the stay. We recommend this takes place where the dog will be minded so that the dog can become familiar with where he will eventually be staying. This is also beneficial for the dog's owner as they can feel comfortable knowing where their dog will be staying prior to the trip.

Do I have to pay for the dog's food?

No. Usually the owner supplies all necessary food and equipment, although it is important to discuss this with the owner before minding each dog.

Once I have registered how do I start minding dogs?

There are two ways to start. Firstly, owner members will email or phone you directly (your preference) to offer you the job. You simply check your emails and mobile phone voicemail regularly for messages from Find A Dog Minder owners. Then you liase directly with the owners and set up a time to meet each other for a visit prior to the stay to ensure you are comfortable with the dog you are going to mind. Secondly you can apply for any of the jobs posted online at FADM. So you have two ways of finding dogs to mind!

Do I still need to login to my dashboard even if I am using my phone or email for requests?

Yes, it is important that you login regularly and keep your profile up to date. FADM removes minders from the site if they do not update their profile or reply to emails. So by logging-in regularly and checking your emails you will remain an active minder.

I am only available during certain days/weeks. Can I still mind?

Yes! On the dashboard there is a feature that allows you to specify your regular availability, there is also a calender so you can select dates should you not be available during a certain period.

When I am adding an image on join-up, it wont allow it. Why?

This is most likely because the image file is too big. The best way to ensure this does not occur is to save the image as a jpeg, which is a much smaller file size. Adding a picture to your membership should only take a few seconds.

Can I meet the minder before I go away?

Yes! We recommend that you arrange a visit with your chosen minder and you bring your dog with you. This allows you to feel comfortable knowing where your dog will be staying and also allows the dog to become familiar with the area.

Will my dog be excercised?

Minders generally excerise the dogs daily. It is important to discuss the dog's individual requirements with the minder in advance though generally minders walk the dog they are looking after regularly, unless requested otherwise.

Once I have signed up do I have unlimited access to the directory?

Yes, when you are a member you have full access to the dog minding directory for the length of your subscription. You only pay one fee for the subscription term, there are no hidden costs for using the site.

Are my payment and personal details secure?

Yes! Our site is secured with a 128bit encryption and all payments are processed through eWay - Australia's leading third party gateway. Your Credit Card details are never stored by Find A Dog Minder.

How do i cancel my membership?

To cancel/suspend your membership from the next period simply email us at info@findadogminder.com.au to advise us that you would like to discontinue your subscription. We are happy to suspend your membership and give you the opportunity to join again at a later date. Please remember you must advise us of your intention to cancel or suspend your membership at least 72 hours before your next billing date.

Can our dog be looked after for a long period?

Yes, there are no restricitons on length of stay. You simply need to contact the minder and enquire if they can look after your dog for an extened period, its that easy!

What are the minders' nightly rates? How much should I pay?

Dog minders display their individual nightly rates on the site. You are free to negotiate rates with minders. You pay the minder directly, there is no agency 'middle-man' meaning rates are very affordable. We recommend minders fees are set between $15 and $25 per dog per night. Rates vary according to minders' experience, the duties required and your location. A higher nightly rate may be required if your dog has additional requirements, this can be discussed directly with the minder.

Can I find a minder who lives nearby?

The directory is sorted geographically by postcode. The minders are listed in order as most suitable to your dog and your location. The website is unique in that it sorts by street and suburb not radius to ensure accurate results. Minders will only show in the results if they have chosen to mind your size of dog.

Can I Find A Dog Minder with lots of experience?

Yes! We have a wide range of minders available. Many are qualified trainers and breeders, others have had dogs during childhood and are looking for the joys of again having a canine companion. We also have families with young children who are 'road-testing' having a dog before they commit. The one thing all our minders have in common is a great passion for dogs.
